Incr.Edible Flower: Torch Ginger (+Recipe!)

Dulu, tiada pindah rumah tanpa membawa serta bunga rias (dan pohon gedi) untuk ditanam. Bunga rias alias kecombrang adalah bumbu inti arsik, masakan favorit yang diturunkan Opung ke Mami. Nah, berhubung bunga yang di Bali bernama kembang bongkot ini banyak sekali dijual, aku tertarik mencobanya untuk masakan lain.

The edible part is the waxy petals and its seed pods. It smells sweet and sharp, tastes tangy and zesty like a mixture of lime and ginger. And here is the recipe a la moi:

Fiery Flower Vegetarian Fried Rice a la Purba

  • Servings: 1-2

Bahan/Ingredients:
  • bunga rias/torch ginger petals
  • bawang merah/shallots
  • bawang putih/garlic
  • garam/salt
  • merica/pepper
  • daun jeruk purut/kaffir lime leaves
  • serai/lemon grass stalks
  • kaldu jamur/mushroom stock (optional)
  • cabai/chiliies
  • nasi/cooked rice
  • Cara membuat/Direction:

  • Mix together all ingredients in electric mixer. Put oil (or lard or butter, remember, fat is flavor!in wok and fry the mixture until the whole kitchen smells fragrant. And then put rice, mix well. Serve it hot!
